What we count
Goodness Granny keeps its own simple count of visits so we can see which pages people actually read. When you open a page, the site records:
- which page you opened
- the name of the website that sent you here, like google.com, and nothing else from that address
- one word for your kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and one for its system (iPhone or iPad, Android, Windows or Mac)
- how long the page was on your screen before you first left it or switched tabs, saved only as a range like "30 seconds to 1 minute"
Visits from search engine robots are counted separately, so they don't get mixed in with people.
What we don't collect
We don't use cookies. We don't store your IP address, your browser's full identifying details, or any kind of ID. Nothing we store can link two visits to the same person, so we can't follow you from page to page or from one visit to the next. There are no forms on this site, so we never ask for your name or email.
Where it's kept
The counts are kept in our own storage at our web host, Vercel. We don't sell or share them, and the site has no advertising trackers. Like any website, Vercel handles your IP address in order to deliver the page to you, but our counter never saves it.
Our pages load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for the font files. The links to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook and to the shops and ministries on the Granny recommends page simply open those sites, and from then on their own privacy rules apply.
A video on a devotional page only loads from YouTube when you press play, and from then on YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
